A McLaren 720S, a live-machined wheel, and a GROB CNC machine came together at AMB 2026 to showcase what happens when advanced manufacturing technology meets automotive design.
At the SolidCAM booth in Stuttgart, the spectacular McLaren 720S immediately caught the attention of visitors. Generously provided by our customer and partner mbDESIGN GmbH & Co. KG, the car offered more than a striking visual it represented the journey from digital design to precision manufacturing and, ultimately, the finished product on the road.
From Design to Precision Machining
The McLaren was equipped with mbDESIGN SF1 wheels, highlighting the company’s expertise in developing premium alloy and forged wheels for the automotive market.
The manufacturing story could also be seen live at the SolidCAM booth. Using a GROB G350T, our team machined an mbDESIGN KV1 Midi wheel directly in front of AMB visitors. Programmed with SolidCAM, the live demonstration showed how a digital CAM workflow can be transformed into a precisely machined component.
To make the experience even more memorable, one of the machined KV1 Midi wheels was raffled off to visitors each day.
Technology, Expertise and Partnership
Founded and led by Markus Brandt, mbDESIGN combines automotive design and manufacturing expertise under one roof, with in-house capabilities spanning design, CNC machining, painting, and quality control.
The collaboration at AMB 2026 highlighted the connection between these capabilities and SolidCAM’s CAM technology demonstrating how programming, machining, and manufacturing expertise work together to bring complex designs to life.
Having Markus Brandt and the mbDESIGN team at our booth made the showcase especially meaningful. Their McLaren provided the perfect example of where precision manufacturing can ultimately lead.
From the CAM program to the CNC machine. From the wheel to the road. AMB 2026 showed precision engineering in motion.
SolidCAM thanks Markus and the entire mbDESIGN team for their trust, partnership, and excellent cooperation.
